Kotwal, the newest superhero from the creative house of Alpha Comics has made a powerful debut. I picked up my copy during the Independence Day sale on the RCSG site—a great time for collectors to expand their stacks thanks to generous offers. It took me a little while to find the time to dive in, but once I did, I’m glad to say it was worth the wait.
Initially, I was a bit skeptical. Having seen the early promos, I wondered if this might turn out to be just another derivative take inspired by the countless mutant storylines we’ve seen before, or reminiscent of a lesser-known DC character. Thankfully, I was proven wrong. Sanjay Gupta sir delivers once again with a superhero who feels both fresh and deeply grounded. He has mastered the art of "Superhero Origin Stories".
Kotwal AKA Chaturbhuj, stands out as a badass superhero with a strong hatred for crime and criminals. a The narrative moves briskly, opening with a well-crafted action scene, flowing into the character’s socially relevant origin story, and closing with a gripping cliffhanger that sets up the next installment perfectly.
Artistically, the book shines too. The trio of Dildeep Singh, Jagdish Kumar, and Parveen Singh deliver panels that are dynamic, engaging, and perfectly suited for the tone of the story. Here’s hoping they continue with the series.
Overall, Kotwal is an engaging start for a superhero tale with cultural resonance, sharp storytelling, and visuals that do justice to its ambition. Definitely a recommended read for comic lovers!
