The trio of Sudeep, Vivek, and their immensely talented artists have done it again! Solomon 3 easily ranks among the top when compared to other comic books published by Holy Cow. The creators have experimented quite a bit, and the final product turned out to be excellent—which is exactly what comic book readers want. A gripping narrative combined with stellar sketches, inking, and coloring—when all these elements fall perfectly into place, the result is what you witness in Solomon 3.
Story/Narrative: 4.5/5
I would have rated it a perfect 5 (reasons coming up). Many unanswered questions from Volumes 1 and 2 are finally addressed here, each revealed one by one. The story unfolds layer by layer—beginning with Galbraith and Velu the vampire and their quirky bromance 😊. Then, it pulls us back to the Mahabharata era, where Ashwatthama’s pain is vividly portrayed as he relives those treacherous and heartbreaking moments from the past. From there, the story returns to the present, focusing on the central mystery: why Solomon is back from the dead. Interestingly, Solomon himself feels more like a guest star in his own story—but that’s okay (though it’s also why I docked half a point 😉). These narrative “fillers” were necessary, and the larger story makes much more sense now.
Artwork and Coloring: 5/5
Team Holy Cow absolutely delivers—a home run in every way. Gaurav Shrivastav returns with his recognizable style, but for me, Abinash Ghosh is the real hero of this volume. He shoulders most of the heavy lifting and truly deserves applause! Not many colorists can handle the power of red, but here it has been masterfully implemented. The way the shades of red dominate certain sequences is just brilliant—I absolutely loved it. And then come the pages rendered entirely in black and white during the Mahabharata arcs—an absolute visual treat.
Final Thoughts
The book ends on a cliffhanger, leaving you eager for more. But don’t worry—Vivek has promised that the fourth and final volume will be released on 7th September 2025, if all goes as planned!
So go ahead and dive in—if you’re looking for something refreshingly different in the Indian comic book space, Solomon 3 should definitely be on your list. You won’t regret it!
